Clark DiLullo is a long time friend to NinthandSuperior and a prime example of a member in the new generation of young professionals that’s pursuing dream careers on the side. He started working, and became locally famous, as an employee at Ohio University’s Court St. Chipotle in Athens, Ohio. After graduation, he moved to become the general manager at a Chipotle in Columbus, Ohio. While working the nine to five he has also been pursuing success with his music endeavors. I sat down with Clark for the second official interview published by NinthandSuperior, and he was nice enough to provide us with a new song. Also, the images in this article were manifested in the mind of, and created by, Clark. So thanks for the content buddy.

Here is the interview with Electric Lily and the release of his new song Can’t Explain Love:
1. So what’s your music type?
Rock I think..yeah rock
2. Stage alias?
Electric Lily. My girlfriend and I wrote down a couple hundred words, ripped them up and put them in a bucket, then drew them out in pairs. That was the coolest one.
3. How was your first show?
It was a milestone for me because when I first got to Columbus that was the music venue we went to all the time. I was honored to play my first show there. I opened for a band from LA “Haunted Summer”. They were really cool, and I felt like maybe we could be friends. That show was very special to me, it reaffirmed what I’m doing and inspired me to continue this journey.
4. Any new music that’s inspired/motivated your creativity?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Gary Clark Jr., Tame Impala, Beachhouse, and St. Vincent lately.
5. Favorite music production software?
Logic. I’ve never really tried out any others, so I have nothing to compare it to but it’s doing the job for now.
6. Funniest/most creative lyrics?
Every time I first write a song there’s that moment that this is something really good. After it’s done and you’ve listened to it a thousand times and you still think it’s good then you know you’ve got something. I’d say lyric wise probably the song Beachhouse right now. But I have some new music coming out soon I think trumps it.

7. How do you balance your day job with your music?
I don’t. As the GM of a multimillion dollar restaurant, I work so much I feel like I have no time to do this shit. I may need to start taking the expression starving artist to heart here pretty soon if I want to make it.
8. Do you have any other side hustles?
Sleep. I just haven’t figured out how to get paid for it.

11. Did you like the Zac Efron movie We Are Your Friends?
Yeah as I was watching it I couldn’t help but relate to it at times. I really dig that quote “Are we ever going to be better than this.” If you really evaluate that expression it can get deep.
12. Favorite spots in Columbus, OH? Athens, OH?
Columbus venues probably Rumba Cafe, Skullys, and Bar: Seventh Son, but food: Condados tacos, park: Scioto
Athens: Jackie O’s, Casa, Union, food:Chipotle. parks: all of them
13. Any business ideas for the future?
It’d be cool to open a studio cafe/venue. But no my focus is to finish this demo record “Don’t Meet Your Heroes” this year, play as many shows as possible and build a stronger foundation.
